Its a rare week that we don't have a single viable new first issue from DC, Marvel or Image, so let's turn to returning series! Ooooh, MONSTRESS #31 starts a new arc of an amazing comic, while the amazing Judd Winick starts his third arc of HILO. Or maybe you want to go smaller press, where Frank Gogol's new arc of DEAD END KIDS starts. Or, if you're old like Brian, you're digging on OTHER HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE #2, where John Ridley somehow ties TITANS comics from the 70s to Arthur Ashe and the Atlanta Child Murders to CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS #7. It's kind of a Tour De Force. Much more under the cut — what looks good to YOU?
Read MoreInterestingly shaped week for launches! The big standout is probably RAIN LIKE HAMMERS but we're also eagerly awaiting the return of ABBOTT 1973! Or maybe you're going to lean towards CRIMSON FLOWER or to I BREATHED A BODY.... and we've barely scratched the surface for the week! COMICS ARE JOY! What looks good to YOU?
Read MoreWelcome to 2021, so glad we made it! Several new series this week, including all of the "Future State" books from DC, WONDER WOMAN looks like the winner. Also worth a look is SCOUTS HONOR, ETERNALS and LAST WITCH. Lots of cool comics behind that jump, what looks good to YOU?
Read MoreAs of this writing, we still don’t have this week’s comics (holiday week, that’s typical), so let’s see when they’re actually for sale! It’s a pretty small week anyway. But check below the cut and tell us what looks good to YOU?
Read MoreThe final days before the holidays, but there's a ton of great comics being released on Wednesday! We're most excited about Rockstar Dav Pilkey's newest: CAT KID COMICS CLUB, and for a weekly new release, we're down with THE PICTURE OF EVERYTHING, ooh, or the remix of SHAM COMICS 80 PAGE GIANT. But that's just a fraction of this week's releases, all of which you can find below the cut, what looks good to YOU?
Read MorePretty excited for a few books this week, especially the Steve Skroce-noodled POST AMERICANA and, woo, a new-to-US Junji Ito with REMINA. We also think that the return of SECOND COMING ONLY BEGOTTEN SON is a looker, and are vibing on the comics expansion of THE EXPANSE. Much much more under the cut…. What looks good to YOU?
Read MoreSmaller week than usual for debuts, but there's always gems. The lead book is likely SWORD by Al Ewing, and everyone loves a good BATMAN: BLACK AND WHITE, finally HOME SICK PILOTS from Image is worth a shot. And on the book side, give Noah Van Sciver some love for PLEASE DONT STEP ON MY JNCO JEANS. So! Much! More! shipping this week, below the cut, so what looks good to YOU?
Read MoreWe come into the last month of 2020 with a smaller week, but packed with some anticipated books -- Marvel's next big crossover with KING IN BLACK, the end of Tom King's run with BATMAN / CATWOMAN #1, a entirely different end in LUMBERJANES END OF DAYS, and the most intriguing indy launch looks like KNOCK EM DEAD. Plus, if you don't already have it, your collection is incomplete without Peter Bagge's COMPLETE HATE HC. Lotsa stuff under the cut; what looks good to YOU?
Read MoreSuper-great week for periodical comics! MONSTRESS TALK-STORIES is our big pick for the week, but we're also looking forward to the debuts of I WALK WITH MONSTERS, THE OTHER HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE, and KAIJU SCORE, while the bundle of GINSENG ROOTS #1-6 should be snapped up, and X OF SWORDS DESTRUCTION is the big wrap up! So much good stuff! What looks good to you?
Read MoreA modest week of comics without a ton of new launches. BARBALIEN is the next installment of "Black Hammer" spotlights, while Ten and Thirteen team up in the new DOCTOR WHO #1. Ooh, and a new Andi Watson title in THE BOOK TOUR? Yes please! So many other great comics behind that cut, what looks good to YOU?
Read MoreAfter a couple of big huge weeks, things get a little quieter this time out, but there's still many books you might like. We think the lead book might be PLANET PARADISE, but there's a lot of love for Adam Hughes drawing HELLBOY THE SEVEN WIVES CLUB. We're also going to look hard at the second issue of CARTOON DIALECTICS and MAYBE SOMEDAY STORIES OF PROMISE VISIONS OF HOPE. Much more under the cut! What looks good to YOU?
Read MoreOops, sorry this is late! We had a lot of great comics released this week, with the lead book clearly being Donny Cates' CROSSOVER. Also looking forward to ORIGINS from Boom! and the new Peter Milligan comic, HAPPY HOUR! Want a great book this week? Try HARD TIME from the late, great Steve Gerber! SO many good comics can be found behind the jump! What looks good to YOU?
Read MoreAnother fine week of comicy goodness! We think the lead comic this week is GIGA #1, but lots of folks are thrilled by X OF SWORDS STASIS #1. On the book side, we think the OGN to beat is Ram V and Anand RK's BLUE IN GREEN, but there's also another volume of DIARY OF A WIMPY KID. Diverse line up, with so much more under the cut! What looks good to YOU?
Read MoreWowsers, huge number of things shipping this week -- it's time to go into the comic book shop if you've been putting it off for a week or two! Our new launch standouts are DUNE #1 and SCUMBAG #1, and the intriguing looking GOITER #5 (I don't see ever being offered #1-4 before). And, oh! Lisa Hanawalt has a new book in I WANT YOU. That's just the barest tip of the iceberg -- full list below the cut! What looks good to YOU?
Read MoreNow this is a good, thick week of comic books! Things yould keep your eyes on? DRACULA, MOTHERFUCKER is a sweet original graphic novel, and I liked the first issues of COMMANDERS IN CRISIS, WE LIVE, and TRUE LIVES OF THE FABULOUS KILLJOYS NATIONAL ANTHEM! But there's a metric shed-ton of comics coming out this week, under the cut.... what looks good to YOU?
Read MoreAnother fine week for funny books! A lot of people have asked for THE WALKING DEAD in color, so here comics the launch of that; while P. Craig Russell adapts Neil Gaiman's NORSE MYTHOLOGY; and the modern romantic comedy GETTING IT TOGETHER sports a famous pose. TONS more under the jump — what looks good to YOU?
Read MorePretty nice looking group of comics. I think we're most excited by THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #1, but there's some strong nostalgia for the GIANT SIZE LEN WEIN TRIBUTE. Plus we're always thrilled when a new volume of MONSTRESS drops! Tons more under the cut; What looks good to YOU?
Read MoreAnother fine looking week o' comics! Obviously the kick off of the X-MEN crossover is the big book, but we're also loving new launches from Vault (AUTUMNAL #1), Boom! (UNKINDNESS OF RAVENS #1), and Aftershock (MILES TO GO #1!) There’s plenty more under the cut — what looks good to YOU?
Read MoreHoooo-ee, I’m going broke with all this good content. Vault’s HEAVY looks pretty compelling, and Dark Horse is only a little late with YOU LOOK LIKE DEATH (but we’re so excited for more Klaus we don’t even care!). Image’s STILLWATER has garnered itself a fair bit of interest as a new horror series and there are too many graphic novels for me to pick out just a few (but also I’d be remiss if I didn’t say I’ve been waiting for the TOM OF FINLAND book for what feels like years…). What looks good to YOU?
