Andy Warner signs SPRING RAIN!

The Comix Experience Graphic Novel Club is simply thrilled to bring you writer and artist Andy Warner to support his newest graphic novel, SPRING RAIN, on Wednesday, February 26th, 2020 from 5 to 7:30pm. There’s still time to join, and get invited to the exclusive Q&A -- www.graphicnovelclub.com/start

Great books from great creators for great readers — every month!

In 2005 Andy Warner travelled to Lebanon to study literature in Beirut, one of the world’s most cosmopolitan and storied cities. Twenty-one years old and recently broken up from his girlfriend, Warner feels his life is both intense and directionless. Immersing himself in the vibrant and diverse city, he quickly befriends a group of LGBT students, many of whom are ex-pats straddling different cultures and embracing the freedoms of the multicultural city. Warner and his friends party, do drugs, and hook up, even as violence breaks out in the city—the scars of a fifteen-year civil war reopening with a series of political assassinations and bombings. As the city descends into chaos and violence, Warner feels his grasp on reality slowly begin to slip as he confronts traumas in his past and anxiety over his future.

Illustrated in beautiful and intricate detail, Spring Rain is an absorbing and poignant graphic memoir of a young man’s attempt to gain control over his life as well as a portrait of a city and a nation’s violent struggle to define its future.

All her best friend Deb wants to talk about is fashion, boys, makeup, boys, and being cool. Sunny's not against any of these things, but she also doesn't understand why suddenly everything revolves around them. She's much more comfortable when she's in her basement, playing Dungeons & Dragons with a bunch of new friends. Because when you're swordfighting and spider-slaying, it's hard to worry about whether you look cool or not. Especially when it's your turn to roll the 20-sided die.

She is a young social media guru and knows her way around all the newest, latest technology. Debian and Digits cross paths when they both stumble across a 100-year-old lost robot named Ray-Bot. They soon learn that Ray-Bot’s CPU was suspiciously overclocked, leaving him unable to perform basic functions and commands. To find out where the robot came from, Debian must teach Digits everything she knows about computer coding and programming. Ngozi Ukazu signs CHECK, PLEASE!

We are extremely pleased to bring you the author of Kickstarter’s most successful comics offering of all time, Ngozi Ukazu and the wonderful CHECK, PLEASE!

The hilarious and heartbreaking confessions of a figure skater turned collegiate hockey player who's terrified of checking - and is desperately in love with the captain of his hockey team! Eric Bittle is a former Georgia junior figure skating champion, vlogger extraordinaire, and amateur pâtissier. But as accomplished as he is, nothing could prepare him for his freshman year of playing hockey at the prestigious Samwell University in Samwell, Massachusetts. It's nothing like co-ed club hockey back in the South! For one? There's checking. Second, there is Jack, his very attractive but moody captain.

You probably haven’t ever read a comic like this before — but then you’re going to wonder where the Hockey / Baking hole in your life was all this time!

David Small signing Home After Dark!

HomeAfterDarkflier(1).jpg

We are thrilled to announce that David Small will be in store on Saturday, October 13, 2018 to celebrate the release of HOME AFTER DARK, the follow-up to his incredible graphic memoir STITCHES! He'll be signing from 5-7pm so make sure to stop by and meet him!

About HOME AFTER DARK:
David Small’s long-awaited graphic novel is a savage portrayal of male adolescence gone awry like no other work of recent fiction or film.

Wildly kaleidoscopic and furiously cinematic, Home After Dark is a literary tour-de-force that renders the brutality of adolescence in the so-called nostalgic 1950s, evoking such classics as The Lord of the Flies. Thirteen-year-old Russell Pruitt, abandoned by his mother, follows his father to sun-splashed California in search of a dream. Suddenly forced to fend for himself, Russell struggles to survive in Marshfield, a dilapidated town haunted by a sadistic animal killer and a ring of malicious boys who bully Russell for being “queer.” Rescued from his booze-swilling father by Wen and Jian Mah, a Chinese immigrant couple who long for a child, Russell betrays their generosity by running away with their restaurant’s proceeds. Told almost entirely through thousands of spliced images, once again “employ[ing] angled shots and silent montages worthy of Alfred Hitchcock” (Washington Post, on Stitches), Home After Dark becomes a new form of literature in this shocking graphic interpretation of cinema verité.
